SOAR MODEL

While I was getting trained for PCC, came across many new tools and new terms which can be used to assess organizational potential and how that can be navigated to get best resources, one of them is SOAR Model, which in my opinion us an interesting one for to work on at group level.
The SOAR model is a framework used for strategic thinking and planning, it focuses on identifying and leveraging strengths & opportunities to achieve desired outcomes. SOAR stands for: 1. : This step involves identifying & understanding an organization's core strengths, capabilities, and unique attributes. It encompasses both tangible resources like infrastructure & intangible factors like skills, knowledge, & culture. The goal is to recognize what the organization does well and how those strengths can be utilized to achieve strategic objectives.1.

1. Strengths: This step involves identifying & understanding an organization's core strengths, capabilities, and unique attributes. It encompasses both tangible resources like infrastructure & intangible factors like skills, knowledge, & culture. The goal is to recognize what the organization does well and how those strengths can be utilized to achieve strategic objectives.
2. Opportunities: The second step is to identify & analyse the external opportunities available to the organization. This includes trends, market conditions, customer demands, emerging technologies, or any other factors that can potentially create opportunities for growth, innovation, or competitive advantage.
3. Aspirations: Aspirations refer to the desired future state or goals of the organization. In this step, the focus is on envisioning what the organization wants to achieve, its purpose, and its long-term objectives. Aspirations should be inspiring and aligned with the organization's mission and values.
4. Results: The final step of the SOAR model involves determining the specific results or outcomes that the organization aims to achieve. This step requires setting clear, measurable, and achievable targets that align with the aspirations identified in the previous step. Results should be meaningful and reflect the desired impact and success of the organization.
The SOAR model differs from other models by emphasizing a positive & future-oriented approach. It encourages organizations to leverage existing strengths and proactively explore opportunities rather than focusing on weaknesses or threats. By adopting a strengths-based perspective, organizations can create strategies that build upon their inherent capabilities and drive sustainable success. Its essential to note that the SOAR model is just one of many strategic planning frameworks which can be used during group discussions or training programs etc. based on the outcomes we can contextualise to the organization.
How about trying this model in your next team meeting or in an offsite? Any experiences anyone wants to share? How about trying this model in your next team meeting or in an offsite?
